ABOUT US

WHAT IS A BAPTIST?

This church is a Baptist church by conviction.  We believe in the fundamental teachings on which Baptists have historically stood. As Baptists, we believe the KJV Bible is our sole authority for all matters of faith and practice.  The church should be autonomous, or self-governing. The believer does not need a priest or any other mediator than Jesus Christ, to come boldly before God.  Every Christian has equal and personal access to God.  God's Word gives us two ordinances for the church which are baptism, and the Lord's supper. Each person is individually responsible for their own decision to accept Christ as their Saviour and follow the Scripture's teaching.  The separation of state and church is Biblical.  The believer is eternally secure and cannot lose their salvation. There are two church offices—Pastors and Deacons.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE AN INDEPENDENT BAPTIST?

As an Independent Baptist church, we are not affiliated with any particular Baptist denomination or ruling body.  Because of this we support missionaries of our own choosing, select our own leaders, and support institutions that believe as we believe.  In short, our church answers to the headship of Christ and governs itself by the Scriptures, rather than a denominational body.

MEET THE PASTOR

Pastor Friesen has been married to his wife Shelly for 29 years.  They have eight children, and are a homeschooling family.

Pastor Jeff Friesen accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour while attending a revival meeting at Pembina Valley Baptist Church, in his home town of Winkler, Manitoba.  After this point he surrendered his life to whatever God would have for him and began taking classes at Canadian Baptist Bible College. During his final year of college he began to fill in the pulpit, preaching for the Victory Baptist Church in Kenora, Ontario which was seeking a Pastor at the time.  In 2002 this church voted him in as the Pastor, and he pastored there for seven and a half years.  In 2010 Pastor Friesen was offered a position back in his home church to be the Associate Pastor, as well as teach in Canadian Baptist Bible College. Upon handing the Kenora church over to a new pastor, he and his family moved back to Winkler, Manitoba and served in their position there for eight years. Pastor Friesen has a Bachelor of Theology from Canadian Baptist Bible College, and a Masters of Ministry through The Crown College in Tennessee.

In March of 2018, Pastor Friesen preached at a missions conference in Taber, Alberta. At this conference the Lord burdened his heart to establish an Independent Baptist Church in Alberta.  In the Summer of 2018, he and his family took a survey trip of several cities in Alberta who had no Independent Baptist Church, and it was during this trip that the Lord laid strongly upon their hearts the city of Airdrie.

In September of 2018, after much prayer and a second visit, Pastor Friesen and his family determined to begin a church in Airdrie as soon as possible.  They moved to Airdrie in December of 2018, and the church had it's first Sunday service in June of 2019. They look forward to many years living and serving the Lord in the community.
